Review paper publication guidelines
Follow practical preparation and publication steps, from manuscript checks to the final article record.
Write a transparent review paper
A review article should explain how the literature was selected and what the synthesis adds. A systematic review needs a documented search and selection method; a narrative review should clearly state its scope and reasoning. Avoid claiming systematic coverage when only a small convenience selection was read.
Your preparation checklist
- Define the review question
- Explain literature selection
- Distinguish review types accurately
- Synthesize findings rather than listing abstracts
Keep a complete manuscript record
Maintain the submitted file, decision messages, revision responses and the final approved version together. Check that the title and author order stay consistent between the manuscript and submission form. When a change affects authorship or a central result, discuss it with the coauthors and editor instead of silently replacing the record.
